Auricular Therapy or Auriculotherapy, is safe, effective micro-current stimulation of nerve endings on the outer ear to help balance and/or normalize a range of physiological and psychological functions. It is extremely useful for the relief of pain and addictive behaviors.

Auriculotherapy uses micro-current stimulation of the central nervous system through nerve endings on the external ear.  Imagine your brain as a computer. Inside this computer is a “map” of the entire body. This map is projected onto the ear through the body’s nervous system. Accessing the points on the map is like using a computer’s keyboard or mouse to gain entrance into the system. With this system, Dr. Pavia is able to treat patients directly through the “brain’s computer”.

Auriculotherapy has been used for many years with increasing popularity in the treatment of a variety of health problems, including treatment of addictions. The treatment triggers the release of naturally occurring substances such as endorphins that bind to opiate receptors in the brain and nervous system.  This aids in eliminating symptoms of cravings and withdrawal, and disrupts the addictive process. The therapy is performed by the doctor using a small hand held instrument that delivers a small electrical impulse (micro-current).
